RCN’s David Cooper wins HR Director of the Year
Published: 24 November 2011
The RCN is proud to announce that its Director of Human Resources, David Cooper, has won Personnel Today’s award for HR Director of the Year. David joined the RCN in 2007, following a career in human resources and organisational development which included 21 years in the NHS.
Since joining the RCN’ s Executive Team, David has championed a transformation in organisational culture at the RCN, ensuring that staff have strong opportunities to develop and are focused on delivering high quality services to members. The RCN has Investors in People status and last year became the first trade union or membership organisation to join the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for, entering the rankings in 51st place. At yesterday’s Personnel Today ceremony the RCN also won the Health at Work award, a second accolade for the health and wellbeing programme run by David’s team.
Congratulating David Cooper on his award, Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive and General Secretary said:
“I am so proud and delighted for David. I have always wanted the RCN to be an excellent employer, not least because that is how we succeed in delivering high quality services for our members. We can look health care employers in the eye because we have been independently recognised for the way we motivate and develop staff and treat them with respect and fairness. The changes we have made at the RCN in the last five years have been pioneered and championed by David and his team with huge enthusiasm, energy and determination. I am grateful to him and very pleased that he has secured national recognition for his achievements.”
