RCN: School nurses are key to providing children with effective Personal, Social, and Health Education

“We are pleased that the Government has listened to the RCN’s call for children to receive personal, social and health education (PSHE) and are keen to work with them to ensure that school nurses are actively involved in achieving this.

“School nurses are specifically trained to care for children, so are fully able to provide them and their parents with the appropriate information in a way that they fulfils their needs.

“Therefore, school nurses need to be key partners in the planning and delivery of PSHE programmes for them to be effective. And, the RCN looks forward participating in the next stage work being led by Sir Alasdair Macdonald.”
