Published: 24 December 2009
The UK's Royal College of Nursing today (24 December) praised attempts to secure sweeping healthcare reform in the US. Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary said that the final step must now be taken to improve healthcare for millions across the US. He commented:
"This is potentially the most significant development in healthcare reform in the US and we hope this will end up extending healthcare for millions of Americans. We will be keeping a watching brief over developments in the New Year and we trust that the American legislative bodies will take the final steps needed to secure these landmark reforms. We would like to congratulate President Obama on his courage and breadth of vision in pushing forward healthcare improvements.
"The Senate has given an incredible Christmas gift to the American people."
