Employment - opportunities for nursing or midwifery international work at WHO

The World Health Organization is offering opportunities to graduate nursing students and nurse and midwifery leaders to be involved in global health policies and systems through either internships or scholar programmes.

Internships are for eight weeks and these are open to graduate students who are finishing their programme from an accredited school. There is also an off-site programme for interns requiring in country work with the WHO Collaborating Centre on Nursing and Midwifery Development lasting at least eight weeks. Each participant will work with a faculty adviser at a WHO Collaborating Centre who will provide on-site guidance and supervision.

The nurse or midwife scholar programme is aimed at outstanding nurse or midwife leaders with extensive experience and skills in health policy, strategic planning, innovations, health informatics, nursing or midwifery education and practice. Eligible scholars include senior leaders in education, practice, research and policy. The programme lasts for three months and WHO are encouraging individuals with a PhD in nursing and related fields to apply.
