Consultation responses

In his progress report, The Protection of Children in England, published in March 2009, Lord Laming made a number of recommendations which the Government proposed to address through the revision of Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance. This is the RCN's response to the subsequent consultation.

In accordance with Article 138(2) of the Treaty establishing the European Community, the Commission launched in December 2006 the first-stage consultation of the social partners on protecting European healthcare workers from blood-borne infections due to needlestick injuries.

The RCN welcomes the European Commission's initiative to indentify the challenges for global health, the EU's role and ways it can develop a more coherent approach based on guiding principals and priority areas of action.

The DCSF ran a consultation on changed Regulations and National Minimum Standards (NMS) affecting the provision of education, care and information in independent schools, non-maintained special schools (NMSS) and in all schools providing boarding/residential accommodation.

The Care Planning, Placements and Case Review regulations bring together in a single set of regulations all the duties on local authorities for making care plans, ensuring that a child or young person is provided with accomodation which meets his or her needs and a review conducted of the child's case within specified timescales. These activities are at the heart of effective corporate parenting.

NHS Plus and the Occupational Health Clinical Effectiveness Unit (OHCEU) are examining the evidence base relevant to the management of varicella zoster virus in the workplace and will publish its guidance in June 2010.

The European Commission prepareed a legal proposal on information to patients to ensure good quality, objective, reliable and non-promotional information.

This consultation sought views on regulations covering the registration arrangements for children's homes, fostering agencies, independent adoption agencies, adoption support agencies and residential family centres.

The purpose of this consultation was to gather views on the draft Sure Start Children's Centres guidance.

This consultation related to arrangements for birth registration by unmarried parents, where they are not co-operating to register their child's birth together.
