Read the joint review of 2007 produced by the Government Equalities Office and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

The report concludes that:
" much has been learned about how to develop engagement with communities and how to spread awareness of the benefits of valuing diversity through innovative and entertaining programmes."

Releasing the potential within BME networks

Respect for diversity among staff can better equip the NHS to provide appropriate and effective services to a diverse public. Produced by the RCN's Diversity and Equality Unit, Directions in Diversity and Equality: an overview of European and UK initiatives 2007- 2010, identifies some of the key initiatives and developments in equality and diversity in Europe and includes some additional relevant worldwide events over the next four years.

DH information leaflets

The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007 will make it unlawful for health and social care organisations to discriminate unfairly against lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people. The DH has produced leaflets, which form a package of resources to help health care providers improve the quality and uptake of health services for LGB and transgender people. The leaflets can be downloaded from the DH website.
