  • Insured: The Royal College of Nursing and its members.

Cover

  • Clinical negligence and public liablity when undertaking a professional nursing service acceptable to the RCN
  • Professional indemnity (legal liability for financial loss) in respect of negligence of nurse expert witnesses and occupational health nurses.

Geographical limits

  • Worldwide but excluding nurses working or resident in the USA/Canada or any claim arising in either country

Limits of indemnity

£3,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate including defence costs.

Special exclusions

Cover does not apply if:

  • you engage in midwifery direct with a third party for a fee (although ante-natal, post-natal care and parenting education are covered) 
  • you are working on your own account (whether as sole proprietor, partner or behind a limited company) and employing or otherwise engaging with other health workers who are not RCN members (including partners)
  • you are resident or working in the USA or Canada, or a claim arises in either country
  • any loss or claim arising directly or indirectly from Hepatitis or HIV infection
