Supporting infection prevention
The Royal College of Nursing and the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) have jointly developed the first commissioning toolkit to support commissioning of infection prevention and control. This toolkit aims to support both commissioners and infection control teams with regard to ensuring that prevention and management of healthcare associated infections is sustained as a core element of quality and safety of care provided to patients. The toolkit follows on from the joint RCN/IPS position statement issued in December 2010.
