Pay 2009
Evidence to the NHS Pay Review Body 2009
This year's staff side evidence to the NHS Pay Review Body focuses on the details of the re-opener clause and makes the case to request a remit from the Government to re-open the three year pay deal and to review the pay increases for the period covered by the deal.
The evidence is made up of an introduction, then a chapter on the wider economic environment including the labour market and recruitment and retention in general. We then provide a number of individual case studies from the different professional groups in the NHS illustrating their personal rates of inflation and showing how this can differ considerably from the national rate depending on personal circumstances.

The RCN has also commissioned Incomes Data Service to carry out a piece of analysis to support the case to re-open the pay deal.

Finally staff side organisations have submitted individual research reports which are complementary and support the thrust of the staff side evidence. The RCN has included a Labour Market Review, (PDF 168KB) [how to access PDF files] and an analysis of the Labour Force Survey, (PDF 276KB) [how to access PDF files] to support the evidence.
