Andrew Wardle
Assistant International Adviser (Global Health)
Andrew is the RCN’s Assistant International Adviser (Global Health). This new role for the RCN follows from the commitment made at Congress in 2010 for greater engagement in international work. Andrew is working on establishing international development partnerships related to the Millennium Development Goals. He works with other agencies to encourage volunteering and understanding of global health issues.
Before joining the RCN Andrew was an occupational therapist with Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust. In a somewhat peripatetic career he has worked with homeless people in Sydney, been an actor, and completed a master’s degree in international development management at the Open University. For many years he worked for Christian Aid and CAFOD managing programmes in South and South East Asia, including post-tsunami Sri Lanka, Cambodia, the Philippines, Burma and East Timor.
