Matthew Hamilton

EU/International Adviser

Matthew is responsible for identifying and analysing major EU and international nursing and health policy and legislative developments, as well as developing effective strategies for influencing EU and international bodies in key areas of relevance to the RCN. He also develops and maintains relationships with UK and international partners to support this work.

Prior to joining the RCN, Matthew was Director of Policy for the Council of Deans of Health, representing all UK universities delivering nurse education. Before then he had a number of roles in the Department of Health. These included Joint Policy Lead for the Prime Minister’s Commission on the Future of Nursing and Midwifery, Team Leader for the NHS Constitution Policy Unit and EU Advisor within the International Policy Team. He has a degree in Government and Foreign Policy.
