Housing problems
The Welfare Rights and Guidance Service cannot offer housing but can advise you when facing difficult housing decisions.
For example, we can offer advice on negotiating with your mortgage lender if you have, or in danger of having, mortgage arrears through a change in circumstances.
Shelter is a housing and homelessness charity that provides comprehensive and up-to-date factsheets on a wide range of housing issues including problems with tenancies and obtaining housing assistance. Visit their advice pages for England or Scotland.
Key worker or low cost home ownership schemes
If you are interested in low cost home ownership then you need to contact the Homebuy Scheme Manager in your area. If you are experiencing problems with the scheme, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
If you want to speak to a welfare adviser about a housing problem, please call the RCN Member Support Services helpline on 0345 408 4391. Calls for this service are answered between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can self-refer using our online referral form and selecting 'Welfare Rights and Guidance' in the drop-down menu.
