Ill health and disability
The RCN Welfare Rights and Guidance Service offers a range of advice and information on ill health and disability and their impact at work.
These include:
- benefits and pensions
- income maximisation and/ or debt advice if you are off sick and on reduced pay
- work related injuries and injury benefits
- absence management issues
- ill health retirement, including ill health retirement appeals
- disability discrimination
- reasonable adjustments
- signposting to other specialist services where appropriate
We also facilitate peer support for RCN members through the Work Injured Nurses Group and the Disabled Nurses Network.
If your employment is being affected by ill health or disability and you would like to discuss any of the issues outlined above then please contact us via the RCN Member Support Services Helpline on 0345 408 4391. Calls for this service are answered between 9.30am - 1pm and 2pm - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can self-refer using our online referral form and selecting 'Welfare Rights and Guidance' on the drop-down menu.
