Think Positive
Think Positive is a new campaign by the Royal College of Nursing aimed at raising awareness of the needs of people living with HIV and ending the stigma that continues to surround this disease.
This website contains key facts about the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), links to national charities and groups that offer counselling and support, and information to help you and your nursing teams understand the day-to-day needs of people with HIV more fully.
The campaign is aimed mainly at nursing staff working outside of HIV and sexual health services.
For more information, email rcncampaigns@rcn.org.uk.
The campaign is supported by the National AIDS Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust.
“The National AIDS Trust welcomes the Think Positive campaign by the Royal College of Nursing. Nurses play such an important role in our health services. Educating nurses about HIV will improve the care received by those living with HIV as understanding will be increased and stigma reduced. It will also help reduce late diagnosis of HIV.”
Deborah Jack, Chief Executive of the National AIDS Trust.
“Educating nurses about HIV will go a long way to improving understanding about HIV and reduce the stigma associated with the virus across the health care sector.”
Marc Thompson, Deputy Head of Health Promotion at the Terrence Higgins Trust
