NHS England have consulted on proposals to remove or restrict interventions that are not routinely performed, where research evidence shows they are not clinically effective, or only effective when they are performed in specific circumstances.
The Royal College of Nursing have responded to these proposals. While we support the use of robust evidence to deliver healthcare interventions that have proven effectiveness, we are concerned about the lack of patient engagement in the form of qualitative analysis for proposed treatment withdrawal.
