Accountability and First Steps for Health Care Support Workers

Location: RCN Wales, Ty Maeth, King George V Drive East, Cardiff, CF14 4XZ

This morning seminar aims to assist delegates to understand the social, ethical, legal and contractual accountabilities of the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) role and is suitable for HCSWs working within the NHS and Independent Sectors. The seminar will describe the principles of quality care in terms of teamwork, accountability and delegation; and best practice guidelines. The session will also provide an opportunity to explore resources available to support issues relating to accountability and will introduce a learning framework which will assist HCSWs to learn in your own time, at your own pace and outline the most important factors that will get you started in your health care career. 'First Steps' has been developed around the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework and codes and standards for Wales and also links to a range of National Occupational Standards.
