Migrant health

The PHE Migrant Health Guide, a free online resource for primary healthcare professionals to help them support their migrant patients. The guide includes guidance on health topics, entitlements to an interpreter, information on data sharing and clarifies migrants’ entitlements to NHS services, among other resources.

The PHE National Migrant Health Team have also produced two animations aimed at healthcare professionals in England:

• Clarifying NHS entitlements for migrants, which consists of six short sections:

1 - Introduction to entitlements for migrants
2 - Karman’s story (case study provided by Doctors of the World)
3 - NHS entitlements to primary care in England
4 - NHS entitlements to secondary care in England
5 - Dental treatment for migrants in England
6 - Assessing new patients from overseas.

• Keeping up to date with vaccinations for migrants

• Supporting migrants’ access to healthcare: toolkit for social prescribing link workers. This toolkit has been developed by the Doctors of the world safe surgeries initiative to support social prescribing link workers and migrants with practical steps and information to recognise and address healthcare barriers and how to access health care.
