Medicines management: current work

As part of our ongoing commitment to keep this resource up to date with the latest information and to provide you with information on current work streams please see below our current work plans.

A new publication ‘Medicines Management - an overview for nurses’ is in development, and will be available by the end of June 2019.

Date confirmed for our joint conference with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) - Safe and secure handling of medicines Incorporating Medicines Administration and Guidance Conference. The conference takes place on 4 April 2019.

A review of the RPS Competency Prescribing Framework for all prescribers (to include prescribing supervisor competencies) is due to start in February 2019. The RCN is on the project board and will be part of the steering group. Members’ comments will be sought as part of the renewal process. RCN endorsement is planned.

A review of the RPS Standards for Community Pharmacy services is due to start in March 2019. The RCN has been invited to be on the steering group. Members’ comments will be sought as part of the renewal processes. RCN Endorsement is planned. 

Case studies. With the help of the nursing professionals and our forums we plan to develop some scenarios that put the guidelines into context for your area of work. Please feel free to engage with this and submit any queries or scenarios to heather.randle@rcn.org.uk for comment
