The University’s School of Healthcare is offering these full-time, funded PhDs to UK or EU applicants who will receive £17,813 a year to cover tuition fees and a tax-free bursary. You can choose from eight research topics to make your application and the closing date is 30 April 2014.

NICE - published guidance March 2014

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) develops guidance using the expertise of the NHS and the wider healthcare community. New guidance this month includes contraceptive services for young people; acute heart failure; recurrent clostridium difficile infection; oropharyngeal malignancy; vasculitis; colorectal cancer; acute or chronic wounds; neonatal jaundice.

Researching end of life care in prisons

This survey is looking for current, or former, nurses or health care assistants working in prisons in England or Wales to explore the services available to dying prisoners and their families. The survey will close at the end of April 2014.

Free online access to research on the care of people with diabetes

Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation commissioned research funding latest calls March 2014

The EME commissioned workstream advertises calls for research proposals that address specific research areas. The latest calls are for surfactant therapy for critically ill infants with bronchiolitis and mechanisms of action of health interventions. The latter call has a webinar to learn more on 28 April 2014.

Pioneers of Care Award 2014

HS&DR funding opportunities March 2014

The Health Services and Delivery Research programme funds research to improve the quality, effectiveness and accessibility of the NHS, including evaluations of how the NHS might improve delivery of services. The commissioned workstream or researcher-led workstream is encouraging outline proposals on 14/19 for follow-on studies; 13/157 on the clinical microsystem (team) level; 14/46 on surgical services; 14/47 on moving care out of hospital or on your own topic or research question within the programme's remit. The closing dates are in April or May 2014.

Three universities win awards for innovation in health care technology

UCLH launches nursing and midwifery research strategy 2014 to 2017
