NMC education standards consultation

How members informed the RCN's response.

In June this year, the NMC launched a consultation on standards of proficiency for the future registered nurse. These are the minimum standards that a nurse will need to meet to be considered to be capable of safe and effective practice.

The consultation closed on 12 September 2017.

It’s anticipated that the final set of requirements will be published by early 2018, and that they will be adopted from the 2018-19 academic year.

Over 600 people participated in 18 workshops across the UK and an online survey received more than 7,000 responses, which informed the RCN's response to the consultation.
