NMC education standards consultation

Have your say on the proposed new standards

The NMC has launched a consultation on standards of proficiency for the future registered nurse. These are the minimum standards that a nurse will need to meet to be considered to be capable of safe and effective practice.

It’s anticipated that the final set of requirements will be published by early 2018, and that they will be adopted from the 2018-19 academic year.

RCN members had their say on the proposed new standards at a series of free workshops, organised by the RCN which have now finished.

The feedback from these workshops will shape the RCN’s response to the NMC consultation.

Respond directly to the consultation

You can also have your say via the NMC website.

Digital engagement

The RCN and NMC held a joint Twitter chat on Wednesday 5 July.

The focus of this Twitter chat was the knowledge and skills required by the future nurse.
