I wanted to join the RCN Midwifery Forum as I believed that, as professional colleagues, midwives and nurses, together we could take a strong approach to improving care and advocating for childbearing women.

Within the Midwifery Forum I have found widely experienced midwifery colleagues who are as passionate about safe care as I am. The Midwifery Forum gives me the opportunity to work with these colleagues to develop projects, respond to policy and represent the RCN's pool of midwifery expertise and knowledge.

How we represent forum members

  • Representing the RCN at external events and meetings such as the International Confederation of Midwives and the Maternity Review of England.
  • Contributing to consultations such as the Home Office Mandatory Reporting of Female Genital Mutilation; Maternity Review of England and NICE consultations.
  • Contributing to RCN publications.
  • Attending RCN Congress.
