RCN staff, members and their families and friends have embarked on an epic journey to celebrate our centenary and raise money for the RCN Foundation.
Between April and September more than 400 participants will cover 1,500 miles as they travel on foot between all the RCN office buildings. Starting in Exeter and ending in Belfast the relay teams will also be carrying a replica of Florence Nightingale’s lamp and will be easy to spot in their bright orange T-shirts. Come rain or shine they’ll be pacing the UK’s highways and byways to get to the next destination.
‘We carry the torch’ is a translation of the RCN’s motto ‘Tradimus Lampada’ – and it couldn’t be more fitting for this test of endurance.
If you would like to support the plucky pacers, visit the RCN Foundation’s 100 Years More page at JustGiving.
The Foundation is an independent charity, supporting the nursing community to improve the health and wellbeing of the public.
