To treat someone with dignity is to treat them as being of worth, in a way that is respectful to their diversity.
Treating patients and clients with dignity is essential within nursing practice. However in order for nursing staff to effectively treat patients with dignity and respect, they too, must feel valued by employers, managers and colleagues.
Often, when dignity is absent people feel devalued and lacking in control.
