Follow up with your MP

RCN members across the UK are campaigning to get the fair pay they deserve

How to build on your relationship with your MP:

After your meeting, it's important to follow up with your MP.  This will keep your MP engaged in nursing issues and remind them about what actions they have agreed to take.

If your MP is supportive, you can:

  • Offer to keep them updated about services in your constituency.
  • Offer to set up a meeting with a larger group of members or attend a branch meeting. Talk to your local RCN office about taking this forward.
  • Ask your MP if they will shadow you in your workplace and learn more about what you do on a daily basis. Your local RCN office can help you with this.
Let your local RCN office know how the meeting went and what was agreed. We will help you promote the meeting with other RCN members.

Local support

Before arranging a meeting with your MP, please contact your local RCN office.

Ask your MP to be a nursing champion:

This is great way for your MP to show nursing staff in your constituency that they value and support the work you do. As a nursing champion, your MP will advocate for you and the wider nursing community in Parliament.

Find out more information about the nursing champion role on our website.

Contact your local RCN office to find out if your MP has signed up to be a nursing champion.
