NICE is developing public health guidance on social and emotional wellbeing in primary and secondary education to update and replace the NICE guidelines on Social and Emotional Wellbeing in Primary Education (NICE PH12; 2008) and Social and Emotional Wellbeing in Secondary Education (NICE PH20; 2009).

NICE would like to hear your views on the following:

  • Do you think this scope could be changed to better promote equality of opportunity relating to age, disability, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, religion and belief, sexual orientation or socio-economic status? In answering this question, please include details of:
    • Which particular parts of the scope you think affect equality of opportunity?
    • Why and how you think equality of opportunity is affected
  • Are there any cost saving interventions or examples of innovative approaches that should be considered for inclusion in this guideline?
  • They are proposing to exclude home schooling from the settings to be covered although they believe that the recommendations they make will still be relevant for this setting. Please let us know if you agree or disagree with this and if you disagree, how they might be able to include home schooling from an evidence perspective, with supporting references.

Please visit their website to view the consultation documents and comments form.

Please email your comments by Thursday, 16th May 2019 to Caroline Rapu.
