RCN Scotland is currently preparing a response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on the New National Care Standards.  The purpose of the consultation is to establish if the New National Care Standards are fit for purpose.

With this in mind, RCN Scotland would welcome your comments on whether you feel the draft standards are ‘fit for propose’ from a  nursing perspective. If you would prefer to not go through the entire consultation questionnaire, we have identified four themes under which to consider the standards:
  • Language – is it recognisable / appropriate for healthcare staff?
  • Clinical safety – to what extent is this accounted for? Is the safety of staff included?
  • Implementation – do they speak to other frameworks?
  • Inspection – can they be fairly and robustly inspected against?
Please submit your comments to our Policy Officer, Lorna Greene, at lorna.greene@rcn.org.uk by Friday 6th January.
