Library Services and COVID-19

To maximise social distancing and slow the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 all RCN physical libraries are now closed until further notice.

Although our physical libraries are closed at this time, our eBooks, ejournals and databases are available 24/7

All member training and events continue to be online at present.

You can continue to contact us via email, webchat and phone during our opening hours (Monday-Friday 9am-7pm).

Currently members are not able to visit the libraries to use the computers and study spaces.

Members’ and staff safety is paramount. We will only open the libraries when we are happy we can do so safely allowing for social distancing.

We now offer an enhanced range of services - postal loans, scan and send, and click and collect.

We can now post books and photocopied journal articles to you. Alternatively you can collect items in person from RCN HQ main building reception.

For books please fill in the postal loans/click and collect form and wait for email confirmation. We will cover the cost of postage of books to you, you are responsible for the cost of returning books.

For Journal articles please complete the scan and send form.

No, you don’t need to return your books until we reopen the libraries. We have extended the loan period on all books until 6 January 2021 and waived all fines during this period.

You can continue to contact us via email, webchat and phone during our opening hours (Monday-Friday 9am-7pm).

Keep in touch with the latest updates via our social media channels too. Follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

If this is your first time using the eLibrary, we have a getting started guide with help and advice.

Our libraries are offering bookable Zoom 1-2-1 database training to support our members remotely.

We are also hosting digital drop-in literature training sessions on Wednesdays between 2pm–4pm. These are available to all of our members around the UK.

For information about our 1-2-1s and drop-ins please see our Literature searching and training pages.

Yes, our popular online events are still being scheduled. See our events page for further details.

Please note: The RCN has taken the difficult decision to cancel all face to face events until the end of 2020.

The RCN is providing continually updated information and resources to support your understanding and management of COVID-19.
