Here at RCN Libraries, including your local branch in Wales, we’re about so much more than just providing books to support your studies and nursing career.
You may not know that we also help kick-start your CPD and soothe your studying woes with our online resources. Referencing ruffling your feathers? We’ve got you covered:
You may already know about our 1-1 tailored study and dissertation writing support, literature search service, and online Journals and Zines, but have you also checked out our subjects guides? They’re an ideal way to dip your toes into a new topic, if you’re unsure where to start.
In ‘CPD and a cuppa’ news, we’ll soon be on our fourth session of our highly successful Journal Club, with you, our members making it an insightful, interesting, and informal session each time. Curious about a particular topic, looking to gain some CPD hours, or network with peers across the UK? Come along online to our next one, date and topic TBA! We’ll provide the article, some further reading, and even send you a certification of attendance to put towards your CPD hours. Revalidation? Smashed it!
If you’re looking for something a bit different outside of support for your career, have you checked out our awesome events?
From the politics involved in the history of nursing, to yoga and meditation, creative writing workshops, and even bestselling author events, there’s something for everyone! We’ve been lucky enough to host David Harewood in the past, and even have a very special Journal Club event coming up this month, with international bestselling author Amanda Prowse, who’ll be chatting about her latest non-fiction book, co-authored with son Josiah Hartley, The Boy Between. Best of all, this one’s open to all members of the public, so pop the kettle on and Join the Conversation with us!

You might be thinking at this point that we Librarians are cantakerous ‘shushy’ people. Not so! Bucking the anti-social Librarian trend, we are, in fact, super-social, and you can catch us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter under ‘RCN Libraries’, to find out what we can offer you to make your day that little bit easier!
We even have a podcast, Past Caring, looking at how the history of nursing shapes how we think about health and social care in today’s world. You can find out more here
Last, but by no means least, you can of course come in and see us for face-to-face support, book a meeting room or use our study space, or just come and have a chat on your break if you work in Cardiff!
Don’t miss out on how we can help, and get ahead with #YourRCNLibraries!
