Christmas Message 2017

Louise Walby, RCN Wales Nurse of the Year 2017

 Louise Walby 20 Dec 2017

I  have been a nurse for over 20 years, working on the wards, within critical care areas and now as a respiratory nurse in primary care and community. I have great appreciation for all the NHS Wales staff who help look after patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and who work to achieve the very best standard of care for patients, even during the festive period when they are sacrificing time with their families.

Over the next few weeks I know nurses will be encouraging everyone to look after themselves and keep warm and safe particularly during the cold icy weather. Patients can stay well by following the advice given by doctors or nurses and remembering to stock up on regular medications.

If patients are unwell over Christmas, they shouldn’t be afraid to contact NHS Direct by telephone or via their website which contains useful information about a range of ailments,  in addition to contacting local GP out  of hours services.

As always, if anyone requires support the NHS in Wales will be there for them.

Best Wishes

Louise
