I wonder how long I will be able to withstand the current pressures

“As I become a newly-qualified nurse within the next few months, I am totally disheartened at what I am about to face, I've seen first-hand the struggles, added responsibilities and sacrifices nursing staff within Northern Ireland are faced with and it is with a heavy heart that I wonder how long I will be able to withstand the current pressures within nursing and see my dream come apart. I work as an nursing auxiliary and I can currently earn more money from certain shifts doing this than I will be able to when I register. What incentive does this give the future of nursing? None - absolutely zero. I fully support the RCN’s decision to ballot on safe and effective care. A change has to occur.”
