Members are leading the RCN pay campaign in Northern Ireland

 Fiona Devlin 1 Sep 2017

Fiona Devlin, RCN Northern Ireland Board Chair, on how RCN Northern Ireland staff and members are working alongside each other to get the Scrap the Cap message heard

The RCN pay campaign in Northern Ireland and across the UK is being led and delivered by RCN members, with valuable support from staff colleagues.

The decision to launch the Scrap the Cap campaign across the UK was taken by RCN Council, our governing body, following a debate at RCN Congress earlier this year. In Northern Ireland, the campaign is being directed by a sub-committee of the RCN Northern Ireland Board, comprising RCN members.

Perhaps most importantly, it is our RCN branch officials, accredited representatives, pay champions and other members who are organising and undertaking the meetings with MPs and the member engagement activity that is at the heart of the pay campaign. Members are also leading the way in promoting the campaign on social media, including our new RCN Northern Ireland Facebook page.

This campaign presents a fantastic opportunity for all our members across Northern Ireland to get involved in promoting fair pay for Northern Ireland nurses. Please make sure that you play your part.
