Selecting the next president

Cecilia Anim CBE 8 Oct 2018 Cecilia Anim

Representing RCN members is a big responsibility and that’s why your vote is so important, says Cecilia Anim.

Being elected RCN President in 2014 was one of the proudest moments of my career.

The role has taken me to places I never thought I’d go, and I’ve met people I will never forget, including thousands of RCN members, each as skilled and dedicated as the next.

Representing the views of almost half a million nursing staff is a big responsibility but I’ve relished the opportunity to talk to people and organisations about the amazing things you do.

Being President in 2016 – our centenary year – was a particularly special feeling.

Addressing the crowds in Parliament Square is a memory I’ll cherish forever.

And raising money through my President’s charity, to support two aspiring nurses in Bangladesh, will, I know, have a lasting impact in a community desperately in need of nursing professionals.

I know I couldn't have done it without your support.

However, my time as your President is coming to an end and I’m preparing to pass the baton to someone new. It’s for you to decide who that person is.

The event is open to all RCN members and will provide you with the opportunity to hear directly from them, including their vision for the RCN and their priorities for the College.

If you can make it to the RCN HQ in London, please come along. If not, the event is being live streamed on the RCN website.

Voting for both positions opens on Thursday 11 October 2018

I know you'll give the next president your full support, to meet the challenges that face us.
