RCN ballot: have you voted?

If you have not yet completed and returned your voting paper, please make sure that you do so right away. The RCN ballot on industrial action, including strike action, of members employed in the HSC on Agenda for Change contracts closes on Wednesday 6 November 2019.

This is your once-in-a-generation opportunity to take action in support of safe and effective care and pay equality in Northern Ireland, thereby promoting the recruitment and retention of nursing staff. The RCN is recommending that you should vote “yes” to industrial action, including strike action. But this is your decision. Whether you agree with the RCN recommendation or not, it is vital that you have your say.

The higher the turnout, the stronger the nursing voice. A low turnout, on the other hand, would make it very difficult for the RCN to take effective action on your behalf to fight for safe nurse staffing, pay equality and better patient care.

If you have not received a voting paper, or if you have received a voting paper but mislaid it, please contact governance.support@rcn.org.uk right away to obtain a replacement.

The RCN is also promoting a Change.org petition to demand safe staffing and pay equality for nursing staff in Northern Ireland. If you have not already done so, please sign this petition and urge your colleagues, family and friends to do so too. It only takes a few seconds but every signature counts.

If you have any queries about the ballot, you may find our frequently-asked questions and answers helpful. You can access them, alongside other useful information, on our website at www.rcn.org.uk/northernireland.

Please make sure that you post your completed voting paper in time to be received before Wednesday 6 November 2019. The RCN recommends that you should post it no later than Friday 1 November 2019.
