IHSC Online Event - Student Education and Career Development in Independent Settings

Join us for the next regional meeting specifically for members employed in Independent Health and Social Care settings.
This event will emphasise the educational opportunities provided by our local institutions and training academies for nurses, both before and after qualification. We will also discuss potential IHSC career paths. This meeting is open to all nurses currently working in the independent sector or those contemplating a career in it, it including student nurses undertaking clinical placements or aspiring to work in independent health and social care settings.
Our speakers on the night will include representatives from a number of North West universities and further education providers, along with members currently working in IHSC, covering the following topics:
- Sue Clarke, Social Care & PIVO Workforce Development Manager, Greater Manchester presenting the adult social care clinical learning guide
- Katherine Valentine & Kate Knight, Chester University, on the social care placements and HEI educational offer at the university
- Dr. Melanie Stephens, Associate Professor (Reader) in Adult Nursing, and the Principal Investigator Long-term impact of IPE Student Training Care Homes, 'Not the Last Resort', talking about Interprofessional Education in care home project
- Kat Simkiss, RCN North West IHSC member, on the value of working in a social care nurse role
- Sarah Mcrae, Clinical Educator for Social Care, GM Training Hub Talking, about her role as an educator within social care environments
- Lucy Tomlins, Professional Lead, Learning & Development RCN NW, Nursing, Policy & Practice, on L&D opportunities available at the RCN
