In 1918, some women in the UK gained the right to vote; in 1919 nurse activists achieved their goal of state registration. Nurse activist Beatrice Kent wrote that, had nurses “been armed with that powerful weapon – the vote – they would have been victorious long ago” in getting the nursing registration act through Parliament. Join our guided tour to explore the links between nursing and suffrage activism in the streets around Cavendish Square, the place where militancy began in London.
