Expressive Writing workshop with the Royal Literary Fund

25 May 2022 14:00 - 16:30

Online Event

Interested in writing for wellbeing? Join this participatory workshop led by published writers to explore how expressive writing can help individuals or groups support their physical and mental health.

Expressive writing is about self-expression. It helps a person to think about their experiences and put their thoughts and feelings into words. It is personal, freestyle writing that is not concerned with the ‘end result’, structure, spelling or grammar. Instead, expressive writing encourages people to write without convention or constraints, thereby fostering personal awareness, resilience and wellbeing.

This friendly workshop is suitable for everyone - whether you’re used to writing or not. Participants will be encouraged to write about their own life experiences or reflections via warm up exercises and writing prompts. There will be opportunities for group discussion and individual writing time.

Royal Literary Fund writers work in universities, with businesses and charities, and with NHS trusts to show people how to approach and plan different types of writing and to help them feel proud of their finished work.
