Looked after children's nurses networking event 2017

This conference will address issues such as substance misuse amongst looked-after children, whilst providing an update on the findings and impact of the National Care Leavers Association 2016 Project. The event will cover three main areas; Adolescent Health, Mental Health and Care Leavers.

Why attend?

  • accrue up to 7.5 hours of CPD time towards revalidation
  • influence the current Government's agenda for looked after children and those in care, as well as care leavers, particularly in respect of LAC Health, the integration of services and the implementation of statutory guidance
  • consider current and topical issues affecting CYP in care with a view to the production of RCN position statements.

Content is also relevant to healthcare assistants working in these areas of practice.

Abstract submission

For the first time at this conference there will be a limited number of stands available for delegates to showcase and present examples of good practice. We are looking for delegates who have made changes to the way they work, a project or redesign which has made a difference and improved outcomes for looked after children. The poster or stall display should include any learning that has taken place, how you have overcome challenges and ways that you have worked in partnership with others.

We are looking for expressions of interest from delegates who would like the opportunity to share their new initiatives with others. Please send an abstract of your work to:

Main Presenter:
Contact Details: If successful, this will be displayed in the conference programme.
Overview (300 word limit): An outline of the reason behind the work and outline its main aims.
Results (400 word limit): How was the work undertaken, evidence of collaborative working and findings.

The abstract information will be used by the organising group and successful delegates will be informed by Friday 24 March 2017.

Those who are successful in their application will be required to set up their stall, and produce a poster of their work or detailed information to display. They will also need to be available at breaks to discuss their work with other delegates. Although successful applicants will still be required register and to pay to attend, their work will be noted within the conference literature.
