•Highlight the key ingredients to move from player to leader and create strong teams.
Who is the conference aimed at?
Nurse leaders working across the health and social care sectors; Executive Nurses, Nurse Directors, Deputies, Regional Nurse and Area Nurse Leaders.
Please note this event is exclusively targeted at nurses working in senior roles (as listed above) and event registrations will be screened to comply with this requirement.

Visitor car parking
Q-Park Oxford Street is an underground car park situated underneath Cavendish Square. You can pre-book your parking by visiting the Q-Park website.
The nearest stations are Oxford Circus and Bond Street.
There are many buses routes that stop nearby, including the 10, 25, 55, 73, 98 and 390.

London Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports have dedicated express train services into central London.
London Heathrow and City airports are directly connected to the Tube network.

Key note speakers
Ben Saunders, World Record-Breaking Polar Explorer and Repeat TED Speaker
Polar explorer Ben Saunders’s incredible feats of endurance challenge conventional wisdom and prove what can be accomplished through ambition, passion, and a refusal to quit. Best known for leading one of the most ambitious polar expeditions in a century, he was the first to successfully complete an epic, 105-day, 1,800-mile trek on foot to the South Pole – equivalent to running 69 marathons back-to-back. Of his expedition he said, “We can all accomplish great feats. If you dream something hard enough, it does indeed come to pass.” Read Ben’s full biography here.
Anne Wafula Strike MBE, Paralympic Champion
Anne Wafula Strike MBE, provides a personal example of courage, commitment and determination that challenges misconceptions about disability. Athlete, author, and sporting ambassador, Anne inspires achievement and excellence across a broad range of life situations through motivational talks and appearances that encourages others to maximise their potential.
Anne is a Paralympian wheelchair racer and a Tough Mudder conquoror who demonstrate that it's possible to break down barriers. She is a NED on UK Athletics, British Paralympic Association and Active Essex. She continues to encourage for an accessible and inclusive society and believes sport and proactive activism and campaigning can be a catalyst to achieving it. She holds a B.ed degree and Honorary Doctorate of Health Science from York St John University supports various not-for-profit organisation both at national and international level. In 2012 she founded The Olympia-Wafula Foundation with a vision to promote healthy living solutions for differently able and disadvantaged people with special emphasis on education and advocacy to empower and enrich their lives through social inclusion.
Stephen Hart, Managing Director, NHS Leadership Academy
Stephen is the Managing Director of the NHS Leadership Academy, part of the NHS People Directorate.
Stephen joined the NHS Leadership Academy in 2016. His focus since joining has been to support the development of NHS leaders who have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours required to promote cultures of compassion, collaboration, inclusion and learning. Prior to joining the NHS Leadership Academy in 2016 Stephen served for 20 years in leadership and management positions in the Military including time as the Head of Command Leadership and Management training for the Army Division at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.
