Northumbria University runs an internship programme that is a tripartite arrangement between the university, care homes and NHS services. The programme offers the chance for nursing student to gain the aptitude and skill for the complexity of gerontological care.
This event will showcase one nurse’s experiences of the programme and share the benefits and lessons learned so far to help remove barriers to, and increase the profile of, older people's nursing.
Aimed at nursing students, practitioners, educators and management and recruitment personnel. Delegates will gain enhanced knowledge of the older person’s life course, transitions in care, and realities of integrated multidisciplinary working.
