RCN Retired Member webinar 2021

07 Jul 2021 11:00 - 13:00

Where there's a will...

Culturally, conversations about death and dying have usually been treated with stigma and seen as taboo. Yet there has never been a more important time to talk about death and need for support at the end of life.

Join the RCN Retired Member network for a practical and timely event which aims to explore this and other issues that aim to raise awareness of the range of services and support available to RCN members (and non-members) who are retired.

The webinar will share information about power of attorney, living wills and Do Not Resuscitate order amongst a range of other topics.

Please see below for approximate timings:
11am – RCN Law
11.30am – Session details TBC
12.00pm - Member Support Services
12.30pm - RCN chapter of the National Pensioners Convention
13.00pm - Close of webinar

Hosted by Dave Dawes, Chair of RCN Council and Carol Popplestone, Vice Chair of Council

Dave has a long history of being actively involved in the RCN, first serving on RCN Council as a nursing student almost 30 years ago. This is now his eighth year on RCN Council, having served in four different decades – the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.

Carol has been a registered nurse since 1978 and works as a clinical nurse specialist for Macmillan, developing and providing a nurse-led service for patients with urological cancers. She is an accredited RCN steward and was a member of the RCN UK Stewards Committee from 2013 to 2016. Carol has also previously served as a member of the RCN Trade Union Committee and as Chair of the RCN Yorkshire & the Humber Board.
