RCN Wales Domestic Abuse Conference: Tackling Difficult Conversations

The conference aims to:
- To explore the perceptions of surviving domestic abuse and the domestic abuse cycle.
- To consider the 8 stages of coercive control leading to homicide.
- To discuss how healthcare staff can be supported if exposed to domestic abuse.
- To consider the impact of domestic abuse on children, the promotion of trauma informed approaches to practice and demonstrate an example of best practice in supporting families.
Speakers at the conference will include:
Rachel Williams: Domestic Abuse Survivor, Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA) Founder of Stand up to Domestic Abuse (SUTDA)
Professor Jane Monckton-Smith: Professor Public Protection University of Gloucestershire, Forensic Criminologist, Specialist in homicide, stalking and coercive control.
Fionn Lloyd: NHS Violence Prevention Nurse & Sarah Richards, IDVA, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Phillipa Bishop, Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) and additional speakers TBC
