This morning seminar aims for delegates to gain an understanding of FGM and the circumstances under which it is performed, and to have knowledge & understanding of forced marriage/honour-based violence.
Unfortunately due to low delegate bookings this event is now cancelled.
This seminar is suitable for all members of the nursing team: registered nurses, Health Care Support Workers/ Health Care Assistants, and pre-reg. nursing students working in the NHS or Independent Health & Social Care Sector. This event is hosted by RCN Wales, but you do not need to be based in Wales to join us!
Topics include:
- To Understand how ‘Honour’ impacts on Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) women’s response to Domestic Violence
- To recognise the long/ short term health implications
- To look at the motives behind Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
- To understand how to support victims of FGM
- To recognise the warning signs displayed by victims of Forced Marriage
- To recognise risks involved in seeking help for victims of Forced Marriage
- Factors to consider when supporting a victim of Forced Marriage
- To know what steps to take to help the victim
