Our regional Education Network in the West Midlands is open to practice educators, facilitators, mentors and other nursing staff with an interest in or remit for nurse education and/or learning and development.
This event will feature a presentation on the new NMC standards for practice-based learning and the work the RCN has been doing to support implementation, delivered by Jean Christensen, the RCN's Professional Lead for Nurse Education.
Other topics include:
- an update on RCN priorities and nursing news (with a focus on nursing education issues)
- an exploration of preceptorship, nursing associates and how we can showcase and learn from local practice
- pre-reg placements in primary care in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and how to raise the profile of opportunities within primary care for nursing students
With links to the RCN Education Forum and the West Midlands Regional Board, the network offers an opportunity to learn and influence in the field of pre- and post-registration nurse education, as well as showcasing local best practice, sharing research and project work, and discussing the challenges and solutions for learning and nurse education.
The network is free to attend and is open to pre- and post-registration nursing staff from any health care setting and sector, whether they are an RCN member or not.
Tea and coffee will be provided, along an opportunity to network with fellow attendees.

The RCN West Midlands Regional Office is approximately 1.5 miles from Birmingham New Street Railway Station, or 0.5 miles from Five Ways Railway Station.
There are bus stops outside the office which are served by the following buses:

There is no parking available at the office itself. However, visitors can park at the nearby Plough and Harrow Hotel (135 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 8LS) for a £5 charge.
