50th Anniversary of Ty Maeth, RCN Welsh Board HQ

6 Jan 2015

The New Year welcomes the opportunity for nurses in Wales to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ty Maeth, the RCN Welsh Board Headquarters in Cardiff.

Ty Maeth or “House of Nurture” is the product of vision, commitment and hard work. RCN members in Wales raised the money themselves to build Ty Maeth. With the help of the general public, nurses raised approximately £300,000. The purpose of the Welsh Board and the building is to enhance the professional role of those in the nursing family and encourage, nurture and develop nurse leaders locally. Ty Maeth is a physical sign that nurses in Wales are force with which to be reckoned.

Gaynor Jones, Chair of the RCN Welsh Board and RCN Council Member for Wales, said: “The 50th Anniversary of Ty Maeth provides a historic opportunity to build on our achievements. The RCN Welsh Board has become the voice of nursing in Wales. Our 24,000 members today stand on the shoulders of the nurses who worked tirelessly in the 1960s to make the dream of a Welsh HQ for the RCN a reality.”
