New Chair of RCN Scotland Board announced

Stewart Donnelly, Employee director in NHS Ayrshire and Arran, has been elected the new Chair of RCN Scotland Board.

Stewart Donnelly is the new Chair of RCN Scottish Board. Stewart has worked in the NHS for over 37 years and is currently Employee Director for NHS Ayrshire and Arran. He became an RCN steward in the mid-1980s and has been one ever since. During this time has held a variety of roles in the RCN Ayrshire and Arran Branch, from chair to secretary to treasurer. Stewart is the former Vice Chair of RCN Scottish Board.

“I am delighted to have been elected by my board colleagues,” said Stewart. “I look forward to working with them in the coming year. We will be working hard to carry on the good work of our previous chair, Michael Brown.”

The new Vice Chair of RCN Scotland Board is Alistair Grant. Alistair has almost 28 years’ experience in nursing and is currently Nursing Coordinator in Mental Health Services for NHS Grampian. He is involved in partnership working in NHS Grampian and the Scottish Partnership Forum.

On his election, Alistair said: “I am very pleased to have been given this opportunity and will give my best to the role in the coming year.”

Alistair has been an RCN steward for eight years and is also a safety representative. He won the RCN Steward of the Year award this year. He has served on several RCN working groups, for example, on health and social care integration. Alistair is also currently RCN Scotland Board representative for Grampian.

Both Stewart and Alistair take up their new positions from 1 January 2018.
