Jane Hughes (Head of Communications, RCN) and Josie Irwin (Head of Employment Relations, RCN) kicked off the morning session with an update on pay campaigning and the shortage occupation list. Michael Brown, Chair of RCN Council, discussed the Council Review Report.
The afternoon session featured a lively discussion around the new process for allocating places at Congress and the voting procedure. Regional Director Bernell Bussue spoke about 2017 priorities for the region and planning work which is already underway.
Alison Telfer, Development Officer, gave an update on RCN London events which covered feedback on the Autumn of Learning and the RCN Centenary. There were then further updates on Congress planning, branch consultations and current RCN campaigns around housing, safe staffing and the upcoming Mayoral Election.
The day closed with a celebratory cake to mark the 90th birthday that day of HM Queen Elizabeth, patron of the RCN.
