RCN North West out and about as part of HCA Week

It’s Health Care Assistants (HCA) Week and our officers are out and about meeting reps and HCAs at hospitals across the region.

RCN officers will be at hospitals in Burnley, Macclesfield, Blackburn, Cheadle and Wigan, as well as a health centre in Blackpool.

HCAs play an important part in providing excellent patient care. They work alongside and assist registered nurses.

RCN Senior officer Alan White said: “We are visiting hospitals across Lancashire to increase awareness of HCA membership within the RCN.

“HCAs have a vital role in health care and we want them to know the RCN can offer them trade union support as well as helping them develop new skills.” 


Events take place from Tuesday 11 October to Thursday 13 October:

Tuesday 11 October: Burnley General Hospital.

Alan White will meet HCAs in the canteen from 10am-2pm.

 

Tuesday 11 October Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal

RCN’s Angela Cunliffe is planning to do an informal walk round at The Priory.

 

Wednesday 12 October: Macclesfield District General Hospital.

The hospital trust is holding a HCA, nursing and midwifery event in partnership with the University of Chester. RCN is manning a table at the event 3-7pm.

 

Thursday 13 October: Royal Blackburn Hospital.

RCN’s Mary-Ann Parkinson will meet HCAs in the canteen from 10am-2pm.

 

Thursday 13 October: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan.

RCN’s Chris Finch and Alan White will be walking around the wards.

 

Thursday 13 October: Whitegate Drive Health Centre, Blackpool.

Alan White will be available to meet HCAs from 4-5pm.
