RCN President visits Oxfordshire Eid party

Nurses organise an Eid-Ul-Adha event to celebrate diversity amongst the workforce

20 Sep 2017

The event was open to all faiths and none, and was an opportunity for staff to network with colleagues at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The Eid quiz also counted towards nurses’ revalidation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) which is a mandatory process that all registered nurses must undertake.

Speaking ahead of the event, RCN President Cecilia Anim said: “Eid, like other religious festivals is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and to learn about important cultural differences which enrich us as a profession.

“Revalidation is a vital part of maintaining nursing standards and innovative events like these will be useful in making sure our members are up to date.

“I congratulate the Oxfordshire branch on organising the party and hope it serves as a good example for other branches to follow.”

Eid-Ul-Adha which remembers the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and marks the completion of the Hajj (pilgrimage).
