RCN announces nursing cadet pilot

22 Jan 2019

Supported by HRH the Prince of Wales.

The RCN is supporting a new pilot initiative aimed at widening access to the nursing profession. The nursing cadet scheme will be trialled in Wales starting this year, in partnership with the Wales Army Cadet Force.

Once cadets have successfully completed the scheme, they will be offered a guaranteed interview for a nursing degree programme in Wales.

The programme, which is supported by HRH the Prince of Wales, will be aimed at hard to reach young people.

“We hope this will prove to be an effective way to raise the profile of nursing and attract more young people into the profession,” said Dame Professor Donna Kinnair, Acting RCN Chief Executive.

The course will be delivered in association with Neath and Port Talbot College Group. We are grateful to George Farah for his kind support of the pilot.
